What is the key to good health? The key is to live as close to the way Adam and Eve lived. Their food was grains, fruits, nuts and vegetables. They lived outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine and they trusted their Creator. Their drink was water, when it got dark they went to bed.
"But I can't---!" I hear some say. When I hear words like that I am reminded of a former buddy of mine that I had in college. I once was asked to go someplace with him and I didn't want to do it. I told him that I didn't have time to do it. His response has remained with me these 30 plus years. He said, "If it were a priority for you, you would make time to do it." There I was without excuse and had to face the truth---I didn't want to do it and chose not to make it a priority. Since that day when I hear, "I can't!" I hear, "I don't want to."
"I don't want to be a vegan." "I don't want to spend some time outside in the sunshine." "I don't want to change." "I want to remain sick and tired." "I prefer being miserable." It is a choice.
So back to the basics: Eating food that is unrefined and free of chemicals and ingredients that we can't read. Whole grains---brown rice, un-pearled barley, millet, wild rice, wheat, etc. Unrefined fruits---not fruit juices, not sweetened canned stuff but real whole fruit---fresh or frozen. Unrefined fats such as avocados, salt cured olives with nothing added, raw nuts, unrefined nut milks (homemade not the boxed stuff), sesame seeds not the oils. coconuts not coconut oil, raw fresh peanuts not peanut oil, green soybeans not tofu or soy drinks----all unrefined in their natural state. A variety of green foods at lunch time---not some green drink that has been mixed with fruit which will cause fermentation, gas and indigestion. Instead of that try cabbage, okra, zucchini, spinach, broccoli, and dozens of other green foods.
Eating for supper one piece of fruit is perfect for restful sleep and is powerful for weight loss. The next morning a large breakfast of fruit, whole grains and homemade nutmilk will be converted into energy and not fat. The mind will work well, the muscles will spring into action and you will have sustained energy until noon.
Adam and Eve never counted calories, avoided carbs or worried about protein. They just enjoyed the unrefined things that God provided for them.
Drinking 16 ounces of water before breakfast, between breakfast and lunch and then again after lunch will greatly enhance your energy level and keep the body flushing out toxins and fat. Some people try to lose weight by avoiding water but drinking plenty of water actually increases weight loss rather than decrease it. Dehydration is responsible for many health problems including an increase risk of stroke and heart disease, kidney problems and other things. Water is the cheapest, safest, and best blood thinner. It requires no prescription, it has no side effects and is free. It is what Adam and Eve drank.
Adam and Eve never worked out in a gym pumping iron. They never set foot on a tread mill. They never worried about wearing a hat or getting sunburned. They never wore sunscreen (which recent studies have shown actually increase the risk of cancer rather than prevent it), their exercise was gardening---the real oldest profession. When they got tired they rested and they didn't worry about their heart rate or time their workout. The air they breathed was outdoor air that was clean and vitalized with negative ions.
The closer we come to their way of life the better our health will be. They never went on a diet and they never tried to lose weight---they just ate the grains, fruits, nut and vegetables. They enjoyed the company of the animals---the birds sang in the trees and they enjoyed their music. They had no loud noise pounding in their ears knocking their brains around.
They had no jarring alarm clock that got them up while it was still dark. They slept when it was dark and they worked in the garden when it was light. To have abundant health we should learn to enjoy the natural things around us and enjoy what was made for our benefit.
What about superfoods?
It is my conviction that every grain, fruit, nut and vegetable is a superfood. Everyone of them is useful. Some are higher in a vitamin or mineral than others but those are not to be eaten to the exclusion of all the other foods that we have been given. I firmly believe that each one has a unique ingredient that makes them a superfood and all of them should be considered as such. From what I can tell---this desire to find some superfood is based on the goal of being able to eat this one superfood and by eating that one item we can then be free to eat the garbage that out taste buds have become accustomed to. It is some wonder food that is imagined to counteract all the harmful effects of the junk. In reality it is only part of a super lifestyle and can never be a substitute for consistently healthy eating.
What about diets?
Oh my, I am so weary of all the hundreds of ways people have tried to manipulate the body into weight loss. Some of them are very dangerous and can kill you. Some are simply the same junk you have been eating with creative labeling telling you that they will help with weight loss. They give themselves names that imply that they are "healthy" or "lean" but if you check the ingredients list you would find that the list is the same as the old stuff but the portions are smaller. Or they have some chemical in them to "burn fat" or keep you from feeling hungry. A diet is something that is temporary and will always give temporary results---at best. Some of the many gimmicks only help you lose weight by relieving your pocket of the money that is in it. But in the end what has been accomplished---very little at best---or nothing at all. Eventually you tire of it and go back to the junk. What works is a permanent----PERMANENT----lifestyle change. The perfect lifestyle change is one where you are not hungry between meals (2-3 meals a day) and is one that tastes so good that you don't want to go back to the garbage that you were eating before. That is what our program is all about. The naturally high fiber, unrefined, nutritious food that we eat every day is perfect for keeping the body healthy and energetic. Try it for a month or two and see just how much better you will feel. If you REALLY try it you will feel so good that you won't want to go back to the old way of living---EVER.
